APD celebrates IDPD with Yes to Access

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is not merely a date on the calendar; it is a reminder of dignity, equality, and the urgent need to address barriers that restrict participation. On IDPD 2025, the Association of People with Disability (APD) transformed this day into concrete action by assessing real-world accessibility challenges instead of limiting the day to symbolic gestures

Through coordinated efforts, teams of the Association of People with Disability and volunteers carried out 2,551 accessibility checks across 35 districts, using the Yes to Access app to document accessibility of physical spaces. . These audits captured critical insights on approaches, ramps, signage, internal routes, toilets, and safety features in public spaces.

In addition to these field assessments, employees of the Association of People with Disability also reviewed digital spaces, auditing 1,248 websites on IDPD to highlight accessibility gaps and the need for inclusive design online.
