Launched by the Association of People with Disability, Yes to Access was created in response to a simple but critical truth inaccessibility remains one of the biggest barriers to inclusion. Without accessible spaces, full participation is impossible.
By mapping accessibility, conducting audits, and raising awareness, we are working to remove these barriers. Our work aligns with the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, ensuring that accessibility is not an afterthought but an essential part of infrastructure, design, and innovation.
Built accessibility ensures that physical spaces are inclusive and functional for all.
As a first step toward improving accessibility in India, we’ve developed an AI powered app to map accessible and inaccessible spaces, helping individuals find inclusive locations while encouraging businesses and communities to make meaningful improvements. The Yes to Access App combines AI with user input to assess key accessibility features, providing an overall score displayed on a map. Currently, we evaluate factors like tactile tiles, ramps, slopes, door width, clear signage, handrails, and designated disability parking.
Our criteria align with the Harmonised Guidelines and Standards, MoHUA 2021, ensuring a standardized and reliable approach to accessibility. Learn more about our evaluation process.
Digital Accessibility ensures that websites and apps are usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 helps create inclusive digital spaces by addressing key aspects like navigation, contrast, and alternative text.
At Yes to Access, we raise awareness about WCAG 2.2, train volunteers to conduct digital audits and advocate for better online accessibility. Learn more in our resources section:
